✈️ Emirates Simulator Assessment – What You Need to Know

So, you've passed the Compass Test. Congratulations – you're halfway there.
Next stop: Emirates Training Center in Dubai for your Simulator Assessment – one of the most decisive moments in the entire recruitment process.

In this post, we’ll walk you through:

  • What happens in Dubai after your Compass

  • What’s expected during the SIM

  • How to prepare, stay calm, and perform with confidence
(Plus how our 1-on-1 coaching can give you the edge.)

🛬 What Happens After Compass?

Once you finish your Compass Test, you'll be escorted to the Emirates Training Center.
There, you'll:

  • Receive an ID badge (bring your passport!)

  • Be welcomed by your TRI (Training Captain)

  • Attend a 30-minute briefing that covers the simulator session, expectations, and profile

You’ll also see a short presentation about Simulator you will be flying.

🧠 What Aircraft Will You Fly?

You will fly either the Boeing 777 or Airbus A380 simulator, depending on your background.
If you have experience on both Boeing and Airbus, you can choose the type you feel most confident with.

🎯 What’s Inside the Simulator Assessment?

The session typically includes 4–5 key segments designed to assess raw flying skill, CRM, and airmanship:

1. Left/Right-Hand Circuit – RWY 12L DXB

You’ll practice a circuit with manual flying skills:

  • Raw data, timing-based turns, proper configuration

  • 1000 ft initial turn, 1600 ft circuit altitude

  • Time your base/final turn precisely

  • Smooth handling and energy management is key

2. Basic Maneuvers – Turns, Climbs & Descents

Raw flying = raw skill. Expect:

  • Bank angle discipline (PFD cues)

  • 25° turns at consistent pitch

  • 1000 fpm climb/descent with ~5° pitch changes

  • Situational awareness and smooth inputs are observed closely

3. Engine Flameout at V1 (Critical)

One of the most stress-inducing parts:

  • Maintain runway centerline with rudder only

  • Smooth rotation at VR

  • Controlled directional control during takeoff

4. Raw Data ILS Approach

No Flight Director. No magic. Just you and your scan:

  • Manual flying to intercept and maintain LOC/GS

  • Smooth power and pitch coordination

  • Clear anticipation of configuration

5. LOFT Scenario ( only for Accelerated Command or Direct Entry Captains )

You’ll run a short scenario with your partner:

  • Stay professional and focused

  • Display clear CRM, communication, and leadership

💡 How to Prepare for the SIM

Here’s what we help you develop in our 1-on-1 coaching:

  • Understanding SIM profile expectations

  • Knowing what Emirates is really looking for

  • Step-by-step mental rehearsal of each maneuver

  • Mindset to handle flameouts, raw data flying, CRM

  • Briefing techniques & communication strategy

✅ Why Coaching Can Make the Difference

Most candidates fail not because they lack skills – but because they lack structure, confidence, and situational awareness.

With our 1-on-1 coaching, you’ll:

  • Know what to expect

  • Have the SIM profile practiced mentally

  • Enter with a calm, focused mind

  • Show Emirates you’re ready to be one of them
